Round 1: “Floaters, grab a lifevest!” -Rachel
The players come in and see both Jeff Probst and Julie Chen there to greet them. Shocked to see Julie, the players all begin to wonder what’s in store. At this time, Jeff and Julie explain that they are co-hosting together this season, because the twist this season is that until the merge, the losing tribe will be voting players out Big Brother Style. The winning tribe will have to unanimously elect one Head of Household, who will then have to nominate two houseguests for eviction at Tribal Council; the rest of the players will then vote one of the other. There will be no Powers of Veto.
The men work on trying to assemble a camp, the women bond, with the exception of Rachel, whose voice has already driven most of the women up the wall.
Jeff, Hayden, and Nathan form a secret alpha males alliance. Dan and Memphis also reconnect their bond. Dick and Will align, and Dominic lays low.
The females are less divided and are united against Rachel.
Due to the twist, all challenges are held on the 2nd day of the round, and are combined Reward/Immunity. The challenge is the famous “Quest for Fire”, which test these house pets’ outdoor skills right away. The men, led by Jeff and Dominic, come out victorious, winning flint and immunity, and Rachel prepares to go home. The men, due to hard campaigning by Dominic, elect Daniele as the Head of Household for Tribal Council, giving her 24 hours to nominate. At camp, Rachel packs her bags, but pleads to her tribe to keep her over Jordan, who is weak in challenges and will hold the team back.
At tribal, Daniele nominates Jordan and Rachel for elimination. The players then eliminate Jordan 5-0, shockingly, in the hopes of improving the tribe’s strength.
Episode 2-“This is NOT Big Brother!” –Will
Rachel is grateful to still be in the game and expresses her gratitude, but knows she’s still in danger and wll need to lead her team to some victories to stay around.
The men continue to stay torn. Dick and Will are targets due to their past.
The women agree that Rachel needs to take full advantage of her second chance if she is to survive again.
The tribes come in for Reward/Immunity, which is a treasure hunt. The winning tribe gets fishing equipment as well as Immunity. Challenge from Pearl Islands, Episode 2-Reward.
Dominic proves to be a good swimmer, but the women are a lot faster than the men, and Rachel drags the chest to the finish mat, and the women win immunity. The women then have to name a Head of Household, they fall for Dominic’s boyish good looks, and give it to him.
At camp, the multiple different alliances already rooted in the tribe try to push Dominic in numerous directions. Will and Dick try to push him to nominate Nathan and Jeff, pointing out their bond, while Jeff, Hayden, and Nathan target Will, and Dan and Memphis tell Dominic to do what’s best for nominations.
At tribal Council, Dominic decides that he wants a strong tribe, and nominates Dick and Memphis for eviction, citing the fact that he believes the two of them to be the weakest. The vote comes back, and the vote comes back 4-1 in favor of keeping Memphis, with Will giving Dick a vote.
Episode 3: “Evil will be vanquished!” –Jeff
The men return from camp, and with the exception of Will, the tribe is unified for once, glad to be rid of the negative energy that is Dick Donato. Will begins trying to scheme and plot his way to safety, and finds a potential niche with Dominic, and begins to scramble.
Rachel begins to start being accepted by the women, but she is still on the outs. Janelle and Alison, enemies from Big Brother All-Stars, have agreed to make up and work together. Janelle offers an alliance of her, Alison, Daniele, and Britney to run the tribe, and all four parties agree that is best. Diane and Lisa also form a bond. Rachel tries to be cordial with everyone and clings to Janelle.
The tribes enter for their next challenge, in which the tribes must throw a tomahawk at a board with targets, the tribe with the higher score will win immunity, each players gets two throws.
Surprisingly, the women come out victorious after falling behind early thanks to some sharp throwing by Daniele, Janelle, and Rachel and win blankets in addition to immunity. The women elect Dan to be the HoH, due to his weak performance in the challenge.
At camp, Will tries to talk Dan into keeping him around and joining up with him, Memphis, and Dominic to split u Jeff, Hayden, and Nathan. Dan kindly tells Will that he will consider the offer.
At tribal, Dan refuses the offer and nominates Will and Dominic, and the evil Doctor goes home 4-0.
Episode 4: “I think I lost the ability to bear children” –Nathan
The men come back more unified than ever with villains Dick and Will out of the picture. However, dissent starts to crop up between Dan, Memphis, and the alpha males Alliance.
Rachel has told Janelle that she will do anything she can to make sure the two of them make it to the end, and she wants to take out everyone else with Janelle, because it would be an honor to lose to her.
The challenge is a faceoff on narrow balance beams-The first player to knock the other into the water scores a point for their team-First to five wins. Daniele, being small, sits out. Britney easily loses her first match. However, Janelle, Alison, and Rachel score upsets over Jeff, Dan, and Dominic, and lead 3-1. Diane and Lisa both lose to even it 3-3. Alison loses, leaving it up to Janelle to beat Jeff, and Rachel to beat Nathan. Both ladies maintain their balance longer than Jeff and Nate, and secure a 3rd straight immunity win for the women. The women then decide to elect Dominic as HOH because they felt he would be in danger at tribal council.
At camp, Dominic gets what he wants and sees the official division between the alpha males and Dan and Memphis. The Alpha Males make a deal with Dominic, telling him that if he nominates two of them, and they lose, and he is nominated, they will vote him out before Dan or Memphis.
At tribal, this deal seals it for Dominic, and he nominates Memphis and Dan for eviction. Dan is kept for his challenge strength 3-0 and Memphis is sent home 3-0.
Episode 5: “How is she still here….and WHY is she still here?” –Lisa on Rachel
The men come back from tribal, down to just five members. Dan realizes he is next to go and begins scrambling, speaking to Dominic, hoping if he wins HOH again, he will protect him, and points out that if they keep losing, and he isn’t granted HOH by the women, he will leave pre-merge, with no chance to meet Daniele in the middle.
The women begin to get more unified. The alliance of Janelle/Daniele/Alison/Britney remains in control. Diane and Lisa begin to grow tired of not having control.
The players come in for the challenge, which is a challenge where the lightest weight player on both teams will be held up by the strongest players. Every five minutes, one player holding the weak player up will leave, increasing stress on the remaining players, until the last two players for their tribes have to battle to hold up their tribe member in the air. The first tribe to have their strongest falter will lose. The winning tribe wins immunity and a care package with chocolates.
The men choose Dan to be hoisted up in the air by rope, while the women choose Daniele. Alison and Britney sit out. The challenges goes over two hours once everyone drops, as Rachel goes toe-to-toe with Nathan for over two hours holding Daniele up. However, Rachel lets go and the men break their losing streak, and the women have to vote out another one of their own. The men elect Britney to be HOH, feeling as she might be on the hot seat due to not competing.
At camp, Britney becomes wary of Janelle’s connection with Rachel, and when Janelle points out that Rachel will help them more at merge than Diane and Lisa, Britney says she just got herself nominated, but she was safe, and that it was time to cut the cancer, Rachel.
At tribal, Rachel lobbied hard to get the nominations to be Diane and Lisa, but Britney had a plan, and Rachel was nominated next to Janelle and sent home 4-0.
Episode 6-“Splitting up Wesley and Buttercup”-Dan on targeting Dominic and Daniele.
At camp, Jeff, Hayden, and Nathan, feeling they have the game won, agree to throw the next challenge despite being down in numbers to prevent Dominic and Dan flipping to the women, feeling that Diane and Lisa could flip at merge.
Diane and Lisa, meanwhile, agree that first chance they get, they need to flip to the men and try to play the flip-flopping duo to make it to the end.
At the challenge, the tribes must drink nasty concoctions faster than their opponent. First tribe to 8 points would win immunity and the right to kidnap any member of the losing tribe and prevent them from going to Tribal Council The alpha males talk a big game but can’t back it up, as the women put their heads down and win the challenge 8-1. The women choose to kidnap Dan, feeling he’s next due to Memphis’ recent departure, and the women overrule Daniele and rule Jeff as the HOH.
At camp, the alpha males celebrate their arrival at merge, and Dominic packs his bag.
Jeff nominates Nathan and Dominic, and Hayden sends out Dominic to prevent Daniele from picking him up at merge. This ends the HOH twist.
Episode 7: “The Venus Flytrap Donato is alone.” –Jeff
The tribes merge, and Daniele is saddened to see Dominic gone, but expected it. The women’s alliance of Janelle, Britney, Daniele, and Alison try to work on Dan, fearing that Diane and Lisa want to flip.
Diane and Lisa begin playing both sides during the feast, considering flipping to vote out Britney.
At the challenge, Janelle dominates the keelhauling challenge, sweeping her first and championship heats, and wins a second immunity to transfer to someone else, which she transfers to Daniele.
Before tribal, Diane, Lisa, and Dan are the swing votes. Janelle and her empire are voting for Hayden, while Hayden, Jeff, and Nathan are voting for Britney.
At tribal, Lisa and Diane flip, and Dan doesn’t budge from the men, and Britney is blindsided 6-4.
Episode 8: “It totally blew up in my face.” –Daniele
Coming back from tribal, Janelle, Alison, and Daniele began to worry that their days were numbered.
At the Reward Challenge, the players had to break plates with a slingshot. Hayden won a chance to have breakfast with someone, he chose Jeff.
At the Immunity Challenge, players answered trivia questions about each other, giving some very telling answers about one another. Despite being a bit on the outs, Janelle used her social prowess and know-how about other players to garner a second straight Immunity win, narrowly topping Dan.
With Janelle immune, the men targeted Janelle’s second-in-command, Daniele. However, Dan came to Janelle and told her that he felt like he was 6th place with the men over Diane and Lisa, and would be willing to go to the Final Four with the ladies and take his chances due to respecting them more and also feeling like they were more stable allies than the men or Diane and Lisa.
At tribal council, Diane and Lisa continued their plan to continue flipping back and forth and voted against Janelle’s target, Jeff, and were shocked when the vote came back 6-3.
Episode 9: “Beaten at our own game” –Diane on Dan
Back at camp, Nathan and Hayden go from cloud nine to ground zero, and sit dumbfounded at the power being stripped from their hands.
Diane and Lisa lament being beaten at their own game of flipping back and forth to make the end, and plan to flip again.
At the Reward Challenge, the team of Janelle and Hayden win Reward and go on a catamaran for pizza and beer. They bond over their competitive nature.
At the Immunity Challenge, players had to be on point as they played “Killer”. Nathan was most on target and secured himself Immunity.
Feeling cornered, Hayden attempted to point out to Janelle that Diane and Lisa would keep flipping back and forth, and voting out Diane.
At tribal council, Hayden’s plea fell on deaf ears and was voted out 7-1.
Episode 10: “A flytrap and a cocktail waitress rule this island.” –Alison on her allies Janelle and Daniele
Nathan returns from tribal and laments that he has to go on an immunity run to have any shot to win.
At the Reward Challenge, the players are visited by loved ones who are then asked to answer questions about their Survivors. Janelle’s mom knows her best, and Janelle gets a day at camp with her mom, while everyone else is sent to a secluded area away from camp for the night.
At the Immunity Challenge, the players had to find words in a puzzle. Daniele whipped through the word search and secured herself Immunity.
Nathan tried to campaign to Diane, Lisa, and Dan to flip to him and go to the Final Four with him, but Dan was not budging, feeling more solid with the women.
At tribal council, Nathan went home 6-1, with Nathan throwing a bitter vote on Dan.
Episode 11: “I’m going to win this game. Why are you surprised, America?” –Janelle.
Having enjoyed a month in the Pearl Islands, the players congratulate one another on reaching this point in the game. Dan finds it funny that he is a Catholic school teacher on a desert island with five women.
At the reward challenge, Janelle, Dan, and Daniele easily beat Diane, Lisa, and Alison for Reward. While at their resort retreat, Janelle, Dan, and Daniele bond and Dan asks the women if they’d be open to going to the Final Three. Janelle and Daniele tell him that he’s already in their Final Three plans. In private, Janelle and Daniele both say they were waiting for him to offer this, because Dan has pissed the majority of the jury off, whilst Alison hasn’t.
At the Immunity Challenge, Dan shoots his way to victory, shooting all three of his targets with his flare gun on his first three tries, and Dan guaranteed a spot in the Final Five.
At camp, Diane and Lisa try to flip Dan and Alison to vote out Janelle.
At tribal Council, the vote tie s 3-3, with Diane and Lisa able to flip Alison, but Dan stays true to the pair of Janelle and Daniele. In the revote, seeing as she has been caught, Alison throws up the white flag and switches her vote from Janelle to Lisa, and Lisa goes 3-3(3-1)
Episode 12: “Why does no one else wants this bitch out?!” –Alison on the failed Janelle blindside
Alison attempts to do damage control with Daniele and Janelle, and explains that she felt she was 3rd wheel and that she didn’t have a chance to beat them. However, Daniele and Janelle are not at all accepting or understanding, and tell Diane that she gets to stay an extra day if she loses immunity, and Alison gets to go next.
At the Reward Challenge, the players compete in a culmination of past challenges, which in this case is the treasure hunt in the water, Killer, the tomahawk throw, and the word puzzle. Daniele won the challenge with ease, and took Alison with her to the fallen capital of Panama, long since pillaged by Henry Morgan.
Back at camp, Diane tries to work Daniele, angry that she wasn’t chosen for the reward. Daniele said she felt Janelle owed her a nice meal and a good night’s sleep, and stewed on that. Dan also commented that Janelle’s choice of partner to take to dinner was interesting.
Janelle, while enjoying dinner with Alison, explains that she didn’t want to take Daniele and give an opportunity to Alison to point out the final two deal Daniele and Janelle have had since early on in the game. Alison is grateful for eating, but says she wishes she were at camp to stir the pot.
At the immunity challenge, players must pour water into small tubes to release keys that would drop a plank that would allow them to go to the next stage of the challenge. The first player to lower all five planks and cross the finish line with their flag would win immunity. The race quickly became heated between Daniele and Alison, but Alison beat Daniele by mere seconds when Daniele fell off her balance beam with mere feet go to the finish, and Alison secured herself a spot in the Final Four.
Feeling the writing was on the wall, Diane said her goodbyes at camp.
At tribal council, the alliance held, and Diane was sent home 4-1, with Diane throwing another vote on Janelle.
Finale: “Hmm…who could’ve seen THAT coming? Yawn.” –Jeff on the winner.
On Day 37, Jeff Probst arrived at camp to give the Final Four a hot breakfast and letters from home. All four players cherished the letters and then began to put their focus back on the game. Alison lamented the fact that her attempt to make a bold move would likely culminate in her coming short. However, before the challenge, Alison approached Dan, and the two of them agreed to go to the end together due to the Final Two connection of Janelle and Daniele.
Later that day, Tree Mail arrived warning the Final Four that they would be “judged by their peers” in the next challenge. Realizing they would be facing the jury, the Final Four headed to Tribal Council, very nervous.
At the Immunity Challenge, the jury and players faced off on trivia about the game that was. Daniele’s superior memory led her to a win. At the vote, Alison and Janelle tied votes 2-2, but Alison lost the Fire-Making Challenge, and the only thing that stood in the way of Janelle Daniele’s Final Two was Dan Gheesling.
Having not yet had an endurance challenge, the Final Three returned from tribal council and went immediately to bed, expecting one the next day. However, no Tree Mail came the entire day, and the Final Three sat around camp with nothing to do! Finally, at sunset, Jeff Probst arrived at camp and told them that they would be making their rites of passage on the way to Tribal Council, with each torch being given a proper burial at sea after being taken off of a floating platform on the way to Tribal, where the Final Endurance Immunity would take place.
At Tribal Council, the jury entered expecting a quick result. Jeff then revealed that the Final Immunity Challenge would be endurance and play out live. The final three were each given an idol and a small wooden perch to stand on. They were told that they must balance the idol over their head while remain balanced on the perch as long as they could, the last player standing would win Final Immunity. They were also told they could not bring the perch down from below their head.
The challenge began at sunset and went deep into the night. Neither Janelle, Daniele, nor Dan broke focus for a good eight hours. The jurors began sleeping in shifts. The sun rose on Day 39, and all three were still standing. Finally, after 11 hours, Dan fell down, devastated, knowing his journey had come to an end. Janelle winked at Daniele, jumped down, and left her fate in her ally, nicknamed the “Donato Flytrap’s” hands. Daniele went to vote, and did what everyone watching knew she would, as she sent Dan home.
The next night, Janelle and Daniele returned to face the jury. Janelle claimed she should win because she was targeted by opposition, called the majority of the shots, and stuck to her guns until they turned against her. Daniele argued that she let Janelle take the hits, but always cut side deals to help further her own game, and was able to survive despite her dad and boyfriend being voted out before having a chance to help her, and being key in turning Dan against the men for the final time. Both ladies were roasted for playing as well as they did, both were called villains, but ultimately, the jury felt Janelle’s strong leadership in the game and control of her alliances and ability to get everyone to be endeared to her was slightly more deserving than Daniele’s strong social game and challenge prowess. Janelle defeated Daniele 5-2 winning the votes of Jeff, Hayden, Nathan, Alison, and Dan. Daniele won the votes of Floaters Lisa and Diane, finishing 2nd for a 2nd time in her Reality TV Career.
